The Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD) is working closely with stakeholders and its agencies to prepare for any Brexit scenarios, including a no-deal Brexit.
The focus is on anticipating and preparing for all outcomes, and the impacts they will likely have on rural Ireland and communities generally. A key element of our contingency planning is to ensure maximum flexibility in the programme of funding initiatives.
This allows us to respond to emerging needs and to continue to build resilience in all communities. The support provided by us to communities throughout this country will become even more important in the event of a disorderly Brexit.
The Government has published a contingency action plan which sets out the Government’s approach to dealing with a no-deal Brexit.
Planning by Government and at the EU level, for all possible outcomes, continues to be a major priority.
