The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring TD, has today (Friday, 1 June) opened a new Community Park and Playground in Kilteevan, Co. Roscommon.

The Minister’s Department provided funding of €50,000 through the CLÁR programme for the project. In total, Roscommon has received €780,000 in funding through CLÁR over the past two years.

Minister Ring said: “I am delighted to be here in Kilteevan today to open this fantastic Community Park and Playground. The facility is sure to be a valuable resource that serves both the local community and many of the thousands of visitors that come to this area each year.

“I am delighted to have been able to provide financial support of €50,000 under the 2017 CLÁR programme for this wonderful community facility.  CLÁR is a key part of the Government’s Action Plan for Rural Development.

“I want to congratulate all those who have been involved in developing this Community Park.  It is an excellent example of what can be done when stakeholders work together; it also shows the strong community spirit and pride which is alive and well here in Kilteevan.

This is an exciting time for rural Ireland, with the announcement this week of the Government’s new €1 billion Rural Regeneration and Development Fund which will be administered by my Department. The various schemes which are already run through my Department, such as CLÁR, the Town & Village Renewal Scheme, and the Outdoor Rural Recreation Scheme, are helping to create a bright future for all of rural Ireland and its communities.”
