Minister for Community Development, Natural Resources and Digital Development Seán Kyne TD has commended the work of the Charities Regulator in highlighting the role of trustees of charities during the first ever Trustees’ Week, which runs until Friday.
Charity trustees play a key role in the charity sector as they have overall responsibility and accountability for their charity. In recognition of this role, and as part of their ongoing commitment to support trustees, the Charities Regulator has developed a new e-learning module for trustees to inform them of their legal responsibilities in a very user-friendly way.
Commented Minister Kyne: “Charities and voluntary organisations play an important role in every single community across the country. Governance and leadership in these organisations is vital for service-users and beneficiaries but also for the public who donate and support the organisations.
“Trustees play a key role in charitable organisations and I welcome the work of the Regulator in developing this new practical support which I encourage trustees to avail of.”
